Second Quarter Reflection

Dear Me,

This has been a quarter to remember, so I am taking the time to write a letter to my future self with a couple key points. This quarter in particular is good to remember because my path has not been straightforward. Here are my ideas to remember:

  • Communicate. I have never been someone to communicate, ask for help or show emotions in front of others, but this quarter tested me to my core. Through personal turmoil and community tragedies, I am realizing that in order to feel support you must put yourself out there and have a conversation. Or if you would like something to happen, you must ask no matter the situation. I have also been feeling the need to reflect and try to figure out who I want to be as well as how to be myself. I haven't figured it out and I don't think I will, but that just shows that it is necessary to keep learning.

  • Keep Learning. On the personal side, I must keep learning about myself and continue to live by looking at everyone as an individual; learn about each individual's background. I must also push through with academics, because despite working hard, professors are still professors and college can be challenging. Right now, I am struggling because I would like to be getting a high grade in my Chemistry Class. I did good on every assignment, but am struggling to take the next step to get from good to great. In all this, I am reminding myself to not give up.

  • Don't Give Up. As I right this reflection in week one of Spring quarter, the sun and cherry blossoms are making me feel like things will be wonderful this quarter. Everyone is cheerful, I am absolutely adoring my classes and class schedule (which is lighter) and I have activities that I am very passionate about. I have also really connected with some great people and friends. I am staying busy and cannot wait to continue my own personal growth and really enjoy spring quarter.

I know that even as I read this, I will be busy with ten different projects and running between two activities, but if the Honors themes are ever true, don't forget to reflect, be yourself, and ask for help.
